Potty Training News...

Saturday our little family went to yard sales and found some great deals as usual {BCBG stilettos $1}...
But the very best part was for the first time Aidan Kale said "I need to pee"...
Held it...
And peed in the potty at a convenient store...
For most kids over three this isn't a big deal...
For our family it is monumental...
As I have blogged about in the past Aidan Kale has Hirschsprung's disease...
And if we can get him potty trained it will be a HUGE deal...
We put pull-ups on him and he did a great job pee-peeing in the potty ALL WEEKEND...
The best part is that he is so proud of himself...
Pooping will be a different story since he still has to have one enema a day...
But we are taking it one step at a time...

The Sad Chair...

The further we get into the year, the more Aidan Kale talks about school...
Who he plays with...
Who holds the flag {and that is isn't him}...
What snacks he eats...
Songs he sings...
On Wednesdays, the school sends home information about some of the things the kids do during the week...
It's fun to ask Aidan Kale about criss-cross applesauce...
The Pledge of Allegiance...
The Lord's Prayer...
But nothing prepared me for the "Sad Chair"...
Aidan began by telling me that "this one girl yells and has to go to the Sad Chair"...
I asked him if he ever had to go to the Sad Chair...
One time, he says...
I asked him why...
He responded, "Taking toys and hitting"...
And before I could say another word he continued with...
"My body just does it, I don't know why my body does it"...
And my conclusion was...
The excuses start early...
Or my child is possessed by aliens...

Girlfriend...

Last night while we were at the playground {I in a skirt and knee length boots}...
Aidan Kale asked me this question...
"Mom are you my girlfriend?"
My heart froze as I answered without even thinking...
"Yes, I am!"
"Why" he continued...
"Because I am the only one you need" I responded emphatically...
Watch out little girls...
It's on...

One Day...

One day you won't run around in our back yard...
So today I will let you play outside without your shoes...
Eat ice cream before dinner...
And stay up past dark...

One day you won't want me to hold you...
So today I will snuggle you as we nap...
Give you lots of mooches...
And keep you close...

One day you will be more interested in your friends, sports and girls...
So today I will sit with you in the clubhouse...
Make sock puppets...
And play pretend...
One day you won't ask me to play...
So today I will take you to the park...
Build a city out of Legos...
And set up a Little People town...
One day I will miss you like crazy...
So today I won't...
Today I will just enjoy every messy, exhausting, sticky, chasing the ice cream truck, arguing about bed time, stinky feet, playing outside in their jammies moment...
And be incredibly grateful...
